Have a pet? 7 Things you can do to celebrate Earth Day

As a dog walker I am aware of what being “green” is all about and I really try to do my best to help out. Like most of you I have grandkids and I want them to be able to enjoy their life on this earth so there are a few things we can do to help out with the pets that we own as well as care for on a daily basis. Here are just a few things that we could do to help the earth as well as make us feel like we are doing our part.

  1. Use biodegradable bags when picking up your dogs poop.
  2. If you have a cat you can use the biodegradable bags to scoop the litter box- this can help a lot since we all know that cats LOVE a clean litter box!
  3. Use plant based litter or recycled/ biodegradable litter such as Sweat Scoop or News Best.
  4. Use chemical free cleaners when cleaning up after your pets or just in general.
  5. Clean up pet messes and those other messes with rags instead of paper towels – save a tree.
  6. Instead of throwing away those old unwanted towels, blankets, pet beds, bowls, leashes and collars find a local rescue or shelter and donate them. They would appreciate the thought and they would get another life of use. (Not to mention that feel good feeling again!)
  7. AND while your there adopt a pet, they can make as good a companion as the ones you might buy at a pet store or from a breeder.

Well, that’s it for now thanks for taking the time to check this out a see what you can do to help our earth. Remember think green!
